Tips for breeding hamsters ?
Category: Baby Hamsters
Question by melissssaa: Tips for breeding hamsters ?
Okay. So i’m planning on breeding hamsters. all i need is a female :S
Oh and don’t worry i found future homes for about 10 baby Syrian hamsters.
So my question is:
My male syrian hamster is currently about 8 months old.
if i get a female Syrian hamster thats about 4-6months old it won’t be a problem breeding right ?
I’m jsut scared that my male hamsters too old/ big.
Also. where i’m at its winter, should i wait til its a warmer season to breed them ?
Also i need advice on what colours i should choose for the female
should i get a solid black syrain hamster ( also called a black bear hamster in pet stores) or a black and white teddy bear hamster ?
or a white and cream hamster- or is it too close of a colour to my male hamster ? :S
HERES A PICTURE OF MY BABY :) ( my male syrian hamster) and sorry about the picture with him on moneyt, it jsut shows his patterns more.

ALSO:
i heard breeding him with a hamster thats the same colour as him may resukt to a genetic defection:
like some babies would be born with one eye or no eyes or no legs or justt 3 legs,
is it true >?

Just remember, you are going to have at least 10 hamsters after words. Dwarf hamsters are the hardest of them all, and you need to be VERY careful. Make you have a bunch of males, because they can kill each other.

Hi,
You’ve already asked this question, if you never saw my answer here it is again.
Firstly you’ll need a 4-5 month old female of course.
Hamsters come into season every four evening, the season begins from 8.00-9.30PM, and at only this time will she accept any male near her for mating. If she is not in season, she will attack any male.
You must take the the female to the males cage, never the other away around, otherwise again fighting will take place.
If she is ready to mate, once you put her in, she will “freeze” and stay very still for up to ½ hour while the male mates her several times. After each mating the male will clean himself.
Once they have finished, remove the female and place her back in her cage. If mating was successful, she will give birth in 16 days.
And my experiance is 20 years of breeding them.

Breeding Hamsters Advice?

Question by Eriny Bob: Breeding Hamsters Advice?
I’m thinking of breeding my syrian hamsters except the male is 6 weeks old and the female is around the age of 7 months of age, Can it be done?
I read that you shouldn’t breed females after the age of 6 months as there could complications during birth, What does that mean exactly as I wouldn’t want my female syrian to die?

Here are my tips for breeding hamsters!
1.For starters breed two of the same breed together.
2.When the female is confirmed to be pregnant, give her more food, but don’t get carried away, just a little more than usual, and a lot of water too.
3.When the babies arrive, just let her push them out, she might be in some pain, but heck childbirth is painful anyways in mammals.
4.Don’t you dare disturb the female, she will eat the babies if you think about disturbing her.
5.Also keep in mind that like hamsters don’t usually live very long, so of course there might be some complications.

Question by J.D: Question about breeding hamsters.?
Ok, lets say I’m breeding dwarf hamsters. Is it alright to leave the male in the same cage with the mother and babies since dwarf hamsters are better behaved then most hamsters are?
I mean, would it harm the babies and such? Would it make the female stressed to eat the babies?
Best answer:
Answer by animal guy
no
you will need a seperate cage
I wouldn’t breed unless you know wat your doing and where the babies are going to go
SHELTERS WILL NOT EXEPT THEM
an don’t plan on selling them either
leave it to the experts but good luck anyway,
